About Max

I’m Max.

I’m Max, the person behind Champagner Max.

Wine has been part of my world for as long as I can remember. I grew up in a family with a genuine interest in wine, and visits to wine fairs soon sparked a curiosity that went beyond what was in the glass. I wanted to understand who made the wine, where it came from and how the decisions in the vineyard and cellar shaped its character.

That curiosity eventually led me to study International Wine Business in Krems and work in the wine industry.

But it was at a wine fair in Paris that the idea for Champagner Max really began to take shape: bringing a carefully chosen selection of Champagnes from independent growers to Austria.

Travelling to Champagne brought that idea to life. Meeting producers, discovering their vineyards and learning about their approach made me appreciate just how much individuality can be found behind a single bottle.

Today, my selection is deliberately small.

I choose Champagnes that genuinely excite me. Some are classic and approachable, others a little unconventional. What matters is that every bottle has its own character and that I can recommend it with conviction.

For me, Champagne is about more than a prestigious name or a special occasion. It is about discovering something unexpected, appreciating the people behind it and enjoying what is in the glass.

And because the selection is personal, the advice should be too.

Whether you are choosing between two bottles, looking for something to accompany a particular meal or simply wondering where to begin, you can always ask me directly.
