Les Facettes is where I would start with Herbert Beaufort. Pinot Noir gives it structure, while Chardonnay brings freshness and lift. Subtle toasted notes add depth without disturbing its easy-going balance.
It is approachable without feeling simple — a classic, versatile Champagne that I would happily return to.
Les Facettes brings together Premier Cru grapes from Mareuil-sur-Aÿ and Avenay-Val-d’Or in the Grande Vallée de la Marne with Trépail in the Montagne de Reims. The vines are around 40 years old and grow on clay and limestone over Campanian chalk; the grapes are picked by hand.
